About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Direct and oversee daily Facilities Department operations across maintenance, grounds, capital projects, repairs, workplace experience, procurement support, food services, safety, compliance, and security
- Coach, mentor, manage performance, plan succession, and support employee professional development
- Establish operational priorities and execute short- and mid-term facilities strategies
- Oversee preventive maintenance, major repairs, renovations, and capital improvement projects
- Plan, budget, implement, and complete facilities projects, vendor contracts, renovations, furniture systems, equipment installations, and infrastructure improvements
- Collaborate with the Vice President of Facilities on budgets, capital expenditure plans, business plans, and long-range facility strategies
- Oversee procurement, inventory, purchasing, contract management, RFPs, RFQs, vendor relationships, and departmental spending
- Direct safety, compliance, fire safety, emergency preparedness, security, insurance compliance, inspections, and risk mitigation
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, local, licensing, accreditation, insurance, food safety, environmental, accessibility, and workplace safety requirements
- Lead workplace experience initiatives involving space planning, furnishings, signage, workplace standards, aesthetics, environmental improvements, and employee engagement
- Oversee food service operations, including quality, safety, customer service, and inventory management
- Develop performance measures, operational metrics, reporting systems, and continuous improvement initiatives
- Build partnerships with internal stakeholders, contractors, consultants, regulatory agencies, and vendors
- Lead team meetings, communicate departmental goals, review performance, and ensure consistent practices
- Perform quality checks, address issues, and support continuous improvement and customer satisfaction
- Stay current on corporate security trends and emergency policies/procedures and attend training
- Ensure employees follow facility safety policies and maintain security of key assignments
- Support the Food Service Team as needed
- Coordinate with departments on ongoing space improvement needs
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s Degree in Facilities Management, Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, Business Administration, Occupational Safety, Project Management, or a related field
- 5+ years of progressively responsible experience in facilities management, operations, construction, maintenance, workplace services, safety, security, or related functions
- 5+ years of leadership experience leading teams or multiple functional teams
- Experience managing operational budgets, capital projects, vendors, and organizational initiatives
- Experience developing and implementing facilities, safety, compliance, or operational strategies across multiple locations
- Knowledge of regulatory compliance requirements, accreditation standards, audit methodologies, and risk management practices applicable to manufacturing and quality systems
- Knowledge of accessibility, inclusion, sustainability, workplace experience, and environmental stewardship principles
- Ability to interpret complex regulatory requirements, assess organizational risk, and implement mitigation strategies
- Strong collaboration, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Excellent time management skills with a strong sense of urgency
- Ability to analyze data and KPIs to evaluate performance, identify trends, and drive continuous improvement
- Strong business and financial acumen, including experience managing large budgets and making data-driven resource decisions
- Advanced problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities
- Physical ability to perform frequent standing, walking, lifting, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and machinery/tool operation
- Master’s degree in a related field is nice to have
- Experience overseeing diverse facilities, capital projects, workplace services, safety and compliance, procurement, security, and food service functions is nice to have
- Experience within a complex, multi-site and/or non-profit organization is nice to have
