About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Oversee the month-end and quarter-end close process
Serve as one of the primary liaisons with external auditors
Manage and mentor the accounting team
Elevate close ownership across staff and senior accountants while stepping in on complex areas
Evaluate, develop, and strengthen department controls, systems, and procedures
Conduct technical accounting research and document findings
Resolve complex business and technical issues and prepare supporting memorandums
Partner with the Controller on financial reporting, audit readiness, and accounting policy across all entities
Implement technology and process improvements for new business initiatives and a faster, cleaner financial close
Lead projects contributing to close efficiency and financial system optimization
Manage and monitor accounting systems, including NetSuite
Ensure compliance with GAAP, accounting policies, and regulatory standards
Hire, train, motivate, and develop team members
Supervise and delegate department work

Requirements

What you’ll need

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
5-7 years of relevant experience
Minimum of 2 years of experience at a public accounting firm
Proficiency in researching technical accounting matters and preparing memorandums
Strong knowledge of GAAP principles, including software development and ASC 606
Experience in process optimization, simplification, and standardization
Familiarity with ERP solutions and financial systems; experience with NetSuite preferred
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel
Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
Effective leadership and personnel management skills
Advanced degree or CPA certification
Experience working in a high-growth startup is nice to have
Ability to work effectively in remote environments is nice to have
Experience managing large transactional data sets for accuracy and completeness is nice to have
Experience with intercompany accounting for multiple entities is nice to have
Familiarity with multi-currency translations is nice to have
US work authorization required
Must not require sponsorship now or in the future
