About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Evaluate database architectures and suggest improvements for performance and availability
Work within Agile Scrum and Kanban to support engineering efforts
Respond to database outages, triage incidents, and remediate database-related issues
Evaluate database schemas, partitions, views, and queries and implement performance improvements
Manage and maintain database replication for resilience and fault recovery
Make product choice, design method, and modeling decisions for AWS and GCP database direction
Design database architecture supporting business continuity, backups, compute, network, and storage development
Use Terraform and GitOps to automate infrastructure deployment and creation
Build a common, replicable database design architecture for new installations
Perform other duties as required

Requirements

What you’ll need

Ability to work with K8S operators, specifically Zalando and CNPG
Experience with Postgres, Kafka or other distributed event streaming systems, ETLs, and CDC
5+ years of hands-on Database Engineering experience; Postgres required
5+ years working within an AWS or GCP cloud environment
3+ years of high-level programming experience in Python or Go
Strong database monitoring experience
Strong database architecture experience
Strong Kubernetes production experience
Experience working with applications requiring compliance audits
Experience with production support issues and timely remediation
Experience building infrastructure as code via IaC, preferably Terraform
