Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Up to one year of relevant experience
  • Pennsylvania MPOETC Act 120 Certification required for employment, or current enrollment in an Act 120 police academy, or ability to obtain certification during the hiring process for out-of-state waiver and reinstatement applicants
  • Successful completion of MPOETC medical and psychological requirements
  • Successful background investigation
  • Successful BPAD scenario-based evaluation
  • At least 21 years of age on or before the start date
  • Fingerprint background check
  • Successful completion of all Act 120 MPOETC requirements
  • Pennsylvania State Police Criminal Background Check
  • Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance Form
  • Federal (FBI) Fingerprint Criminal Background Check
  • Valid driver's license and successful completion of an annual motor vehicle records check
  • Successful completion of a credit history check
  • U.S. citizenship
  • Cover letter and resume required
  • Knowledge of information technology, software applications, surveillance equipment, social media, and digital and conventional communications is highly preferred
  • Ability to provide courteous, devoted, and ethical service
  • Ability to work cooperatively with faculty, staff, students, and outside agencies
  • Ability to provide effective, honest, and credible testimony at court hearings
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, analytical, judgment, ethical decision-making, and organizational skills
  • Ability to work with diverse cultures and backgrounds
