About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead the Pension Services TPA Team and ensure effective governance and oversight of third-party administration partners
  • Provide support to the Pension Services Technical Manager on governance and oversight of Buy In Scheme Trustee Administrators
  • Line-manage direct reports, including objective setting, performance management, development planning, and productivity and quality oversight
  • Oversee TPA partner work pipelines against agreed KPIs and SLAs, maintaining quality across complex pension processes, regulatory queries, DSARs, pension increases, overpayment controls, high-value payments, and trustee reporting
  • Collaborate with Transitions, Actuarial, Payroll, and Implementations teams on administration transfers
  • Support forecasting and planning for new scheme administration transfers
  • Coordinate technical and scheme-specific training for team readiness during transitions
  • Provide technical support, training, and complex query resolution to the Pension Services Oversight team and TPA partners
  • Support internal and external audit activity and oversee TPA partner risk incident management
  • Attend trustee and TPA partner governance meetings
  • Develop team capability, skills, and accountability
  • Monitor TPA partner and Trustee Scheme administrator compliance with PIC Consumer Duty requirements
  • Ensure exceptional customer service and agreed service standards for PIC policyholders
  • Produce management information and reporting for senior management
  • Drive continuous improvement and administration-model efficiencies
  • Manage ad hoc projects and workstreams to agreed timescales
  • Liaise with external regulatory bodies, including the Financial Ombudsman Service
  • Own personal technical and non-technical learning and development

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Strong technical knowledge of defined benefit pension schemes
  • Established knowledge of pensions administration management
  • Good knowledge of third-party administration relationship management
  • Good knowledge of scheme Trustee relationship management
  • Good knowledge of pension buy-ins, buy-outs and transitions
  • Strong knowledge of good consumer duty outcomes
  • Strong organisational skills
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to persuade and influence both directly and indirectly
  • Ability to manage people and other resources effectively
  • Ability to organize work to meet deadlines
