About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead development of seasonal and annual line plans aligned with revenue and growth goals
  • Own line planning execution, including styles, colorways, and sizes by category and launch window
  • Balance best-sellers with newness to drive acquisition and repeat purchase
  • Contribute to long-range category and assortment strategy with Founders and Executive Team
  • Monitor competition, industry trends, white-space, and new category opportunities
  • Lead merchandising activities in seasonal go-to-market processes, line reviews, product briefs, and launch planning
  • Partner with Design on creative direction and represent commercial and customer perspectives in design decisions
  • Manage the product lifecycle from concept through launch, reorder, and exit
  • Develop pricing and architecture recommendations and partner on target costs and margin protection
  • Plan promotions and markdowns with Ecommerce and Marketing
  • Develop OTB recommendations, buy quantities, size curves, and reorder recommendations with Finance and Planning
  • Track sell-through, weeks of supply, and aged inventory with Planning and S&OP
  • Drive action on slow sellers and chase opportunities on winners
  • Report weekly and seasonal style, category, and colorway performance
  • Use sales data, returns, fit feedback, customer reviews, and surveys to shape assortments
  • Present quarterly business and product strategy updates to leadership and lead quarterly all-hands product presentations
  • Partner with Marketing and Ecommerce on product storytelling, presentation, site merchandising, engagement, and conversion
  • Define PDP content requirements with Ecommerce
  • Partner with Product Development to manage merchandising deadlines and milestone decisions
  • Serve as product point of contact for cross-functional teams
  • Mentor and develop merchandising team members
  • Establish scalable merchandising processes, tools, and reporting
  • Stay hands-on in data, line planning, and day-to-day execution

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Lives in the NYC Tri-State area with the ability to collaborate in person with our Product Team at our NYC office as needed
  • 5–8 years in merchandising, preferably at a direct-to-consumer, apparel, or intimates brand, including experience leading assortment strategy for a category or brand
  • Must have DTC experience
  • Intimates or bra experience is a strong plus
  • Proven track record of owning commercial results through assortment planning and pricing, including revenue, margin, and inventory targets
  • Strong analytical skills, with hands-on experience in assortment planning, pricing, and margin management
  • Experience presenting strategy and business performance to senior leadership and influencing decisions across functions
  • Experience leading, mentoring, or developing team members
  • Experience partnering closely with design teams
  • Understanding of fit, construction, and product development processes
  • Comfortable setting strategy and working hands-on in a lean, fast-moving team
  • Passion for Pepper's mission and customer
