About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Support and maintain the Medicare Fee for Service claims processing system
  • Provide maintenance and operations support for the Medicare Durable Medical Equipment contract
  • Design, code, unit test, debug, and implement enhancements and fixes in the mainframe health claims processing system
  • Develop complex components within the mainframe environment
  • Lead and participate in design activities and provide technical guidance
  • Build and execute unit test plans, test cases, and test data for COBOL and Assembler components
  • Install changes into internal testing regions and troubleshoot and resolve defects
  • Identify process improvements and maintain current technical documentation
  • Translate customer goals and requirements into actionable team work items
  • Represent the team to clients on technical matters
  • Provide technical solutions to complex problems and contribute to strategic technical direction
  • Consult with team members, organizations, clients, and vendors on complex technical issues
  • Provide time and resource estimates for tasks and projects
  • Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior and mid-level developers

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • BS/BA with 6+ years of relevant experience; or Master’s with 4 years of relevant experience; or high school diploma with 10+ years of experience
  • 6+ years of mainframe development experience in a production or maintenance environment
  • Proficiency with COBOL, JCL, CICS, TSO, and VSAM
  • Knowledge of healthcare claims processing, particularly Medicare Fee for Service
  • Experience as a senior software developer in a mainframe environment
  • Ability to determine and decompose business and technical requirements
  • Agile/Scrum application lifecycle methodology experience
  • Strong communication skills and technical writing ability
  • Ability to develop application project solutions and estimates
  • Experience with Medicare Part A, Medicare Part B, DME, or Medicare Common Working File (CWF) processing systems
  • Experience supporting CMS programs and contracts
  • Experience with DevOps/DevSecOps tools and frameworks across plan, define, build, test, release, and deploy processes
  • SAFe experience and/or certification
  • Must be a US Citizen and able to achieve and maintain a Public Trust clearance
  • Assembler experience is preferred
  • Familiarity with GitHub, Jira, Confluence, and Eclipse (IDz/RDz) is preferred
  • Exposure to Java or Python is preferred
