About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide operational support for the FDA enterprise environment consisting of approximately 3,500 physical and virtual servers
  • Support customer on-premise and cloud-based AWS and Azure datacenters
  • Create images, provision servers, perform patching and reporting, and create and maintain documentation/SOPs
  • Work directly with customers to integrate applications
  • Script and automate tasks
  • Perform high-level problem solving
  • Troubleshoot a wide variety of issues within defined SLAs
  • Participate in a 24/7 on-call schedule

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 5 years with BS/BA or 9 years with a HS Diploma
  • Minimum of 5 years experience as a Linux Administrator
  • Experience with Linux operating systems, Red Hat Satellite/Capsule/OEL, Foreman, Pacemaker, Cisco hardware builds and provisioning with Kickstart
  • Experience with Red Hat Linux, Ubuntu, Veritas SF/Infoscale vcs/vxvm/vxfs, Linux build automation/recovery, OpenShift, OCFS2, Ansible Tower, and Scaler
  • Strong understanding of server backup, vulnerability scanning and threat mitigation technologies, server hardening, and OSCAP
  • Understanding of common security products such as Splunk and Lumension/Ivanti
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Active Directory and Group Policy Management
  • Experience administering and supporting VMware vSphere, including ESXi and vCenter
  • Linux systems administration and storage experience
  • Experience with NetApp, cloud computing instance and service provisioning, including AWS and Azure
  • Infrastructure as Code experience, including Ansible or Puppet
  • Automation scripting skills, including ksh, bash, yams, Oracle Linux patching automation, and PowerShell
  • SolarWinds monitoring experience
  • ServiceNow or other ticketing systems experience
  • Ability to concurrently manage multiple tasks
  • Strong troubleshooting skills
  • Must be a US Citizen
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain the required agency clearance
  • Preferred: AWS, Azure, and Centrify certification and experience
  • Preferred: knowledge of network technologies, connectivity, protocols, and security
  • Clear verbal and written communication
  • Ability to assist and coach team members
