About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Design, code, unit test, and debug enhancements and fixes to the health claims processing system
Participate as a senior member of an Agile development team supporting maintenance and operations
Lead and complete development of complex components within the mainframe environment
Work with minimal direction and exercise independent judgment on technical approaches and solutions
Lead and participate in design activities and provide technical guidance on maintenance solutions
Design, prepare, and execute unit tests
Represent the team to clients on technical matters
Provide solutions to complex technical problems
Contribute to the strategic technical direction of development teams
Apply technical knowledge to deliver maintenance solutions across multiple technology areas
Implement complex end-user and enterprise solutions
Integrate technical expertise and business understanding to deliver stable, reliable client solutions
Consult with team members, other organizations, clients, and vendors on complex technical issues
Provide time and resource estimates for assigned tasks and projects
Translate customer goals and requirements into actionable team work items
Maintain current technical documentation
Troubleshoot and resolve defects and identify process improvements
Install changes into internal testing regions
Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior and mid-level developers

Requirements

What you’ll need

BS/BA with 6+ years of relevant experience; or Master’s with 4 years of relevant experience; or high school diploma with 10+ years of experience
6+ years of mainframe development experience in a production or maintenance environment
Proficiency with COBOL, JCL, CICS, TSO, and VSAM
Knowledge of healthcare claims processing, particularly Medicare Fee for Service
Ability to perform well in a highly rigorous, structured development environment
Demonstrated experience as a senior software developer in a mainframe environment
Demonstrated ability to determine and decompose business and technical requirements
Application lifecycle methodology experience, specifically Agile/SCRUM
Strong communication skills and technical writing ability
Ability to develop application project solutions and estimates
Experience with Medicare Part A, Medicare Part B, DME, or Medicare Common Working File (CWF) processing systems
Experience working with or supporting CMS programs and contracts
Experience with DevOps/DevSecOps tools and frameworks through plan, define, build, test, release, and deploy processes
Familiarity with GitHub, Jira, Confluence, and Eclipse (IDz/RDz)
SAFe experience and/or certification
Must be able to achieve and maintain a Public Trust clearance
Must be a US Citizen
Preferred: experience with Assembler in a mainframe environment
Preferred: exposure to modern languages such as Java or Python
