About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead architecture and delivery in partnership with VA stakeholders and transformation offices
  • Own the technical vision and define target-state architecture favoring declarative and out-of-the-box capabilities
  • Guide use of Apex, Lightning Web Components, and integrations where configuration cannot meet requirements
  • Ensure work is performed in DTC-provisioned sandboxes for building, testing, and validation
  • Deliver configuration-first agile sprints using Human-Centered Design and data-driven feedback loops
  • Establish and enforce Salesforce DevOps practices, including source-driven development, Git version control, automated CI/CD, sandbox strategy, and environment management
  • Validate technical designs against enterprise engineering and data-architecture requirements
  • Identify and resolve risks, dependencies, and integration gaps
  • Capture and document requirements for features, enhancements, and release packages
  • Guide adoption of Agentforce and AI-driven capabilities, including agent topics, actions, guardrails, and trusted VA data grounding
  • Serve as technical escalation point and mentor for developers and administrators
  • Conduct design and code reviews and maintain platform health, reduce technical debt, and uphold governance
  • Establish detailed system architecture, schematics, subsystem descriptions, and interfaces
  • Support VA future-state planning and map business processes to SaaS/PaaS capabilities
  • Document object/data models and maintain architectural artifacts
  • Produce CRUD matrices and record-/field-level security requirements
  • Define technical specifications for automation, UI, analytics, and asynchronous jobs
  • Design and document REST/SOAP API, platform event, and middleware integration patterns
  • Document customization exception approvals and promote permission-set-based access models

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • BS/BA with 12 years of experience, Master's with 10 years, or PhD with 7 years of experience
  • U.S. Citizenship
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance
  • Demonstrated Salesforce integration experience across API-based and middleware-driven patterns
  • Hands-on Agentforce experience designing and deploying agentic capabilities
  • Experience with Salesforce DevOps tooling and source-driven development, such as Salesforce DevOps Center, Gearset, Copado, or equivalent
  • Experience with SaaS/PaaS integrations across Salesforce, Pega, Microsoft Power Platform, ServiceNow, and other platforms
  • Proven delivery of technical solutions using a Human-Centered Design approach
  • Salesforce architect or developer certifications preferred
  • Experience applying Agile SAFe methods in a government environment preferred
  • Familiarity with Salesforce Accelerator, Jira, and similar tooling preferred
  • Experience with Data Cloud and/or CRM Analytics preferred
