About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Design and build integrations between agents and external sources, including public APIs, licensed feeds, partner systems, enterprise systems, document repositories, and structured databases
  • Package integrations as agent-callable tools with clean interfaces, predictable I/O, error handling, and documentation
  • Own authentication, pagination, rate limiting, retry/backoff, schema mapping, deduplication, and caching for trustworthy external data
  • Build and evolve orchestration for multi-step agent workflows, including tool routing, parallel execution, and human-in-the-loop checkpoints
  • Contribute across FastAPI services, React UI, PostgreSQL schemas, and containerized deployments
  • Instrument systems with traces, metrics, evaluations, and regression tests for non-deterministic agent behavior
  • Partner with platform, security, and mission engineers to move capabilities from prototype to production within federal compliance boundaries

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • BS degree with 8 years professional experience, Associate degree with 10 years professional experience, MS degree with 6 years professional experience, or high school diploma/equivalent and 10 years professional experience with meaningful exposure to AI/ML systems or LLM-based products
  • Hands-on experience building with AI agents, including multi-step reasoning, tool use, RAG pipelines, or autonomous task execution
  • Experience integrating LLMs into production or near-production applications
  • Experience designing and building integrations to external information sources
  • Experience packaging external capabilities as agent tools or skills
  • Strong Python skills (3.12+), including async/await patterns, type hints, and modern Python tooling
  • Experience with FastAPI/Python backends, React frontends, Docker containerization, and PostgreSQL
  • Experience building and consuming REST, GraphQL, or comparable web APIs
  • Experience with authentication, pagination, rate limiting, retry/backoff, schema mapping, deduplication, and caching
  • Experience with workflow or task orchestration systems such as Airflow, Prefect, or Celery, or comparable agent orchestration patterns
  • Familiarity with agentic frameworks and concepts including chains, tool calling, and agent loops
  • Experience with LLM APIs such as OpenAI, Anthropic, or AWS Bedrock
  • Knowledge of secrets management, OAuth, API-key handling, defensive parsing, and prompt-injection awareness
  • Product mindset and comfort operating with ambiguity
  • US Citizenship is a requirement
  • Nice-to-have experience with LangChain, LangGraph, LlamaIndex, CrewAI, AutoGen, OpenAI Agents SDK, Anthropic tool-use, or comparable frameworks
  • Nice-to-have experience with RAG systems, knowledge graphs, document stores, agent evaluation, observability, federal compliance, OpenTelemetry, Kubernetes, and distributed storage
