About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Build and prototype software that helps County departments work faster
Use modern AI tools and AWS cloud services
Contribute code and test ideas through rapid prototyping
Develop software for live public-sector environments
Work alongside Peraton professionals on projects modernizing County services
Support emerging applications of AI in software design, development, and delivery
Work 40 hours per week from January 2027 through August 2027

Requirements

What you’ll need

US Citizenship
HS Diploma and some advanced level training
Current undergraduate or graduate student
Completed progress or pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Data Science, or related field
Coursework or project experience programming in Python or Java
Understanding of object-oriented programming
Understanding of version control (Git)
Experience with .NET/C# preferred
Exposure to AWS services such as Bedrock, CodeCommit, and Lambda or other cloud platforms preferred
Experience building with generative AI APIs such as Claude or AI coding tools such as Kiro preferred
Familiarity with JIRA or ServiceNow preferred
Hackathon, personal, or open-source projects demonstrating rapid prototyping preferred
