About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Independently design, develop, implement, and maintain automated unit, integration, regression, and end-to-end functional test scripts
Integrate automated test cases into the Government-managed DevSecOps pipeline by the end of each Agile sprint
Apply Test-Driven Development and align test coverage with functional requirements
Lead Test Automation State Assessments and produce automation completion reports
Automate legacy test cases to expand regression coverage
Evaluate and improve test architecture, reusability, and pipeline integration
Mentor junior QA engineers on automation practices, script development, and tool usage
Develop and own Requirements Traceability Matrices at the end of each sprint
Document test activities, results, and defects in the Government-provided Test Case Management System
Prepare Testing Reports, Release Notes, and Software Version Descriptions
Enforce quality thresholds and zero-defect production releases
Lead JIRA defect triage, root cause analysis, escalation, and reporting
Conduct Section 508 / WCAG 2.0 Level AA accessibility testing and prepare VPATs
Lead stress and load testing in the ProdSim environment
Coordinate Disaster Recovery testing
Support IV&V and track resolution of findings before production deployment
Participate in Agile ceremonies and maintain sprint defect, test completion, and burn-down metrics
Enforce SDLC quality gates and escalate non-conforming deliverables
Submit monthly Quality Status Reports

Requirements

What you’ll need

5+ years of experience in software quality assurance, test automation engineering, or related software testing roles with BS/BA; 3 years with MS/MA; 9 years with high school diploma
Must be a US Citizen
Able to obtain Public Trust clearance
Hands-on experience designing and implementing automated test frameworks and scripts using Selenium, JUnit, TestNG, Cucumber, Python, Java, or equivalent
Working knowledge of Test-Driven Development (TDD) within Agile sprint cycles
Proficiency with JIRA for defect tracking, sprint management, and reporting
Experience developing Requirements Traceability Matrices (RTMs), UAT plans, and formal testing documentation
Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and automated test integration within a DevSecOps environment
Experience with Section 508 / WCAG 2.0 Level AA accessibility testing and VPAT preparation
Strong communication and documentation skills; ability to report QA status and metrics to program leadership and Government stakeholders
Cybersecurity workforce certification (e.g., Security+, CASP+) preferred
ISTQB Foundation or Advanced Level certification preferred
Experience supporting DoD or Federal government IT programs with formal QA deliverable obligations preferred
Familiarity with eMASS and Fortify Software Security Center preferred
Prior experience in or exposure to DEERS, TRICARE, or other DoD healthcare/benefits systems preferred
Knowledge of NIST SP 800-53 Rev 5 security controls preferred
Experience with performance/load testing tools and stress test execution in production-simulation environments preferred
Familiarity with ServiceNow preferred
Experience mentoring junior QA team members and reviewing test artifacts preferred
