About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Support the Country of San Diego Contract from January 2027 to August 2027
  • Help measure and reduce the environmental impact of County technology
  • Support emissions reporting
  • Assess vendor sustainability
  • Analyze the energy footprint of AI workloads
  • Build dashboards tracking progress toward climate goals
  • Work alongside Peraton professionals on real projects that modernize County services
  • Support emerging work applying AI to how software is designed, built, and delivered

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • US Citizenship
  • HS Diploma and some advanced level training
  • Current undergraduate or graduate student
  • Completed progress toward or pursuing a degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, Sustainability, Data Science, or related field
  • Coursework in greenhouse gas accounting, climate policy, or sustainability metrics
  • Data analysis skills in Excel or Python
  • Familiarity with the GHG Protocol (Scope 1, 2, 3 emissions) (desired)
  • Knowledge of California climate disclosure policy (desired)
  • Dashboard experience with Power BI or Tableau (desired)
  • Interest in the environmental impact of AI and cloud computing (desired)
