About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Participate in Integrated Work Systems (IWS), a continuous improvement framework
  • Complete training, assessments, observations, and certification steps for assigned work areas or equipment
  • Operate and monitor packaging equipment safely and efficiently to maintain product flow from extruder discharge to palletizing
  • Perform package integrity and quality checks, including metal detection, seals, code dates, product weights, and case counts/weights
  • Monitor and maintain correct product and case weights
  • Handle machine scrap and waste as necessary
  • Troubleshoot equipment to ensure continuous operation
  • Perform computer data entry
  • Work safely to prevent accidents, injuries, and equipment damage
  • Maintain a clean and orderly work area during shift hand-off and weekly shutdown/sanitation
  • Operate floor scrubbers and other cleaning devices as required
  • Notify maintenance or the supervisor when a line or part of a line is down
  • Support continuous improvement by following standards, identifying losses, and contributing to team capability and performance goals
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check
  • Previous manufacturing experience is preferred
  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
  • Ability to work overtime hours above the normal schedule
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem analysis skills
  • Ability to wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including safety shoes, safety glasses, hearing protection, uniform, hairnet, beard net, and mask when required
  • Ability to wear and use breathing protection devices as required in dusty conditions
  • Ability to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel, and reach with hands and arms
  • Ability to occasionally sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl
  • Ability to talk, hear, and smell
  • Ability to occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds and push or pull 350-pound wheeled carts
  • Close, distance, and peripheral vision abilities
  • Flexibility to learn and work in other job functions
  • Must comply with safety and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) policies
