About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Work in a self-organising product squad, providing technical development skills with React, Node.js, and AWS
  • Co-solution and implement solutions that help the Platform Experience squad achieve its goals
  • Develop and maintain technical knowledge of semantic search, book reading, and collaboration tooling across web and mobile applications
  • Contribute to distributed AWS cloud systems, Serverless Node.js back ends, and React web front ends
  • Write high-quality code using test-driven development with Jest and Playwright
  • Use continuous integration with GitHub Actions and code review through GitHub
  • Partner with engineering teams, product managers, and designers to align requirements and deliver high-quality features
  • Own application features from inception through production, collaborating with customers and business stakeholders and supporting features in production

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 2+ years of commercial experience as a software engineer
  • Experience implementing performant, high-quality web applications using Typescript, React, and Node.js
  • Experience with accessibility features
  • Working understanding of Microservices, REST, object-oriented and functional programming, relational database design, and NOSQL databases
  • Strong experience with AWS and cloud computing providers
  • Strong experience with modern Javascript, development techniques, and tooling
  • Experience working in an Agile environment with CI/CD
  • Experience participating in product discovery and sharing ideation thoughts
  • Working understanding of web security principles (OWASP) and deployment
  • Experience working with non-technical stakeholders and simplifying complex technical problems
  • Degree in a computing-related subject is a plus
  • Experience in a startup environment is a plus
  • Experience with React Native is a plus
  • General interest in books, reading, and continuous learning
