About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Manage the Building Division
- Oversee permit coordination, plan reviews, and inspections related to land development
- Interpret, revise, enforce, and administer state and county-adopted building codes
- Maintain official records and prepare evidence for court cases
- Serve as the County’s Building Official and Fire Code Official
- Act as the primary signatory for Certificates of Occupancy issued by Jefferson County
- Conduct and monitor inspections and enforce codes and ordinances
- Oversee and participate in plan reviews
- Maintain inspection records, calculate fees, and prepare for court cases
- Perform administrative duties, write reports, maintain records, and respond to public concerns
- Research and review codes, ordinances, notices, permitting, and new materials
- Supervise staff by assigning work, monitoring progress, providing feedback, and training
Requirements
What you’ll need- Driver's license
- Certified Building Official certification from the International Code Council
- Experience conducting building inspections for residential and commercial buildings
- Moderate physical exertion, including occasional lifting of items or objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
