About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Plan, assign, and review the work of maintenance staff servicing pump stations
- Oversee the computerized maintenance management system to ensure maintenance activities are completed and documented properly
- Develop and deliver safety training
- Monitor shop inventory and budget
- Coordinate maintenance activities with the Sewer Maintenance Superintendent and WRF Maintenance Manager to minimize disruptions to daily operations
- Assist with budgetary functions by monitoring departmental expenditures and providing recommendations for departmental budgets
- Assist with inventory management to maintain operational supply and equipment levels
- Oversee, direct, and participate in fabricating machinery parts using lathes, milling machines, and welding equipment
- Direct day-to-day maintenance operations and general and preventative maintenance of Water Reclamation Facility equipment
- Produce reports and written correspondence documenting departmental activities and communicating information to regulatory agencies
- Supervise staff by assigning and distributing work, directing duties, monitoring progress, and providing feedback and/or training
Requirements
What you’ll need- Valid driver's license
- Work experience in a heavy industrial mechanical field repairing and maintaining equipment such as pumps, blowers, motors, gear boxes, and engines
- Work experience operating industrial machine shop equipment such as lathes, drill presses, milling machines, cut-off saws, hydraulic presses, grinders, and cutting and welding equipment to fabricate or repair machine parts
- Work experience reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics, and specification manuals
- Work experience using email software, word processing/spreadsheet software, and work order tracking systems
- Work experience following and documenting safety policies and procedures within an industrial setting
- Experience using computerized maintenance management systems associated with completing work orders (desirable)
- Experience troubleshooting electrical problems in pump station control panels and level control systems (desirable)
- Experience supervising or leading a team in a heavy industrial/mechanical environment (desirable)
- Ability to occasionally lift items or objects weighing up to 75 lbs.
- Ability to work around biological and/or chemical hazards, airborne contaminants, and potentially hazardous equipment and machinery
