About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Own backend services in a product area from design to production
Set technical direction and raise engineering standards
Collaborate with Product, Design, and engineering teams
Design, build, and scale backend services and APIs according to API standards
Own features end to end, from requirements shaping through production operation
Design and optimize data models, queries, transactions, and caching for production load
Build reliable integrations with external partners and third-party systems
Deliver full-stack features, including Angular (TypeScript) frontends when needed
Write design documents and ADRs and drive technical decisions
Improve quality through code reviews, automated testing, and observability
Participate in on-call and incident response and lead root-cause fixes
Mentor engineers and shape team practices

Requirements

What you’ll need

6+ years of software engineering experience, mostly backend
Deep expertise in at least one backend language and its ecosystem (e.g. PHP, Java, Go, Node.js, Python, C#), plus the ability to pick up new ones quickly
Strong grasp of backend fundamentals: API design, distributed systems, async processing and queues, and caching
Strong relational database experience (e.g. MySQL, PostgreSQL), including transactions, locking and concurrency
Experience building and running high-traffic or transaction-heavy systems in production
Working proficiency with a modern frontend framework, ideally Angular, Vue, and TypeScript
A track record of leading technical initiatives and mentoring engineers
Clear written communication: design docs, PR descriptions, incident write-ups
Bachelor’s in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience
