Key responsibilities & impact
  • Architect and develop scalable, high-performing backend systems and APIs powering Pika products and services
  • Build, maintain, and enhance distributed systems and cloud infrastructure on AWS/GCP
  • Ensure high availability and reliability of backend infrastructure
  • Own backend features and platforms from ideation through launch and ongoing iteration
  • Develop systems supporting low-latency, real-time collaboration and messaging at scale
  • Design and optimize backend features powering creative, AI-driven product capabilities
  • Lead technical discussions and review code
  • Drive backend architecture proposals
  • Mentor engineers and elevate backend engineering standards

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 5+ years of backend software engineering experience
  • At least 2+ years in senior backend roles
  • Deep expertise in distributed systems
  • Experience building RESTful and real-time APIs
  • Experience with cloud-native infrastructure, including AWS, GCP, and Kubernetes
  • Strong system design skills for reliable, scalable backend services for high-traffic applications
  • Track record of launching impactful backend features balancing technical quality with business needs
  • Ability to independently lead complex projects, troubleshoot problems, and deliver impactful solutions
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Ability to thrive in cross-functional teams
  • Experience with Python, Go, Node.js, Postgres, Redis, Docker, Kubernetes, AWS/GCP
  • Authorization to work for any employer in the United States
  • Must regularly work from or be able to work from the Palo Alto HQ
