About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Support customers with basic product technical support and compliance with machinery standards
- Perform machine risk assessments at customer facilities
- Design and program safety systems and validate machine safety
- Answer and document customer phone and email inquiries in Pilz C4C
- Test and verify customer products and returns
- Create internal reference documentation and provide technical product training
- Provide machinery safety expertise in written and verbal communications
- Create and review Consulting Team reports for safety-standard compliance
- Identify machine hazards
- Conduct hazard analyses and risk assessments
- Perform physical machine validation testing at customer facilities
- Review electrical circuits and calculate circuit performance levels
- Maintain current knowledge of applicable standards
- Design automated mechanical and electrical safety solutions using software tools
- Present assessment results to customers
- Coordinate projects integrating Pilz services and controls equipment with contractors
- Develop PLC programming code using Ladder, Structured Text, and Function Block
- Install and troubleshoot hardware and peripheral devices
- Maintain knowledge of complementary and competitive products
- Support Sales in converting customers from competitors
- Develop trade show and sales demos
- Participate in rotational after-hours on-call technical support
- Travel up to 80%
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Electromechanical Engineering Technology, or similar
- Ability to read electrical/controls schematics, specifically power and control wiring
- Understanding of basic electrical design and control principles of industrial machines
- Fluency in Microsoft Office including Excel and PowerPoint
- Excellent communication skills, verbal and written
- Willingness to learn Pilz products and procedures
- Self-motivated, well-organized, able to multitask, and team oriented
- One (1) to three (3) years of hands-on experience with industrial machinery
- PLC development and testing software experience including Rockwell, Siemens, etc.
- VFD and servo motor control experience
- Hands-on troubleshooting of machine control systems, machine start-up/debugging, and sign-off
- Understanding of basic pneumatic and hydraulic circuits
- Familiarity with Sistema calculation software
- Ability to read and understand fluid pneumatic and/or hydraulic power circuits
- Understanding of mechanical guarding designs and techniques
- Ability to meet customer safety requirements on-site, including climbing stairs and/or ladders and possibly working in confined spaces
- Ability to move/lift Pilz test equipment weighing up to 30 pounds
