Maintenance Assistant

About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide ongoing preventative maintenance and resident assistance
- Perform building and grounds maintenance
- Troubleshoot maintenance problems
- Perform various related tasks as assigned
- Work independently, with occasional assistance from outside vendors
- Respond to maintenance emergencies outside regular working hours when needed
Requirements
What you’ll need- Prior experience in building maintenance
- Knowledge of plumbing, including design/mechanics of commodes, plumbing fixtures, drains, discharge lines, hot water heaters, dishwashers, ice machines, etc.
- Knowledge of HVAC, including general principles of HVAC and heat pump operation/mechanics, and refrigeration
- Knowledge of electricity, including wiring, voltage, and amperage
- Knowledge of mechanics, including design/operation of engines
- Valid driver’s license
- Clean driving record with no major violations
- Good safety awareness and adherence to safety procedures, including infection control measures where applicable
- Ability to be self-supervising and self-motivating, set priorities, and complete tasks in a timely manner
- Positive, courteous, and respectful attitude toward residents, families, staff, and visitors
