About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Communicate with internal and external customers regarding shortages, damages, driver problem calls, pickup calls, tracing, proof of delivery, rates, and claims issues
- Perform a thorough daily dock check and itemize shipments or pieces remaining on the dock that need to move or be investigated
- Attend weekly shift meetings and discuss over, short, and damage issues with employees
- Thoroughly review the weekly Claims Report and rebut claims that should not be paid
- Communicate daily with the Terminal Manager and supervisors regarding quality issues and high-value exceptions and claims
- Audit bills of lading, delivery receipts, and operations movement documents for notation errors
- Share documentation errors with the Terminal Manager for tracking on the CPPA Tracking log
- Minimize company claims exposure through investigation and communication with customers and employees
- Train and educate workers and supervisors through shift meetings to minimize claims
- Communicate with customers regarding SL&C trailers and other issues affecting next-day freight delivery
- Investigate service quality, damages, and shortages, and take action to rectify or prevent similar issues
Requirements
What you’ll need- Command of English language to communicate effectively with internal and external customers
- Must possess excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
- Previous claims experience is a plus, but not necessary
- Strong analytical, problem solving, and organizational skills are required
- Must be competent and proficient in Microsoft Office Software products
- Must possess strong typing skills
- Ability to react to change productively and handle other essential tasks as assigned
- Ability to work flexible hours
- Must be able to work with little or no supervision
- Potential candidates must be able to endure a noisy, dirty and quick paced environment with many interruptions
- Flexibility with changing job duties
- Must be physically able to endure year-round weather conditions
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds or exert up to 10 pounds of force
- Close visual acuity required for preparing and analyzing data and figures, viewing computer terminal, and extensive reading
- Manual dexterity regularly required, including fingering, grasping, and typing
- Talking and hearing required to communicate with and listen to others
