About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Develop effective plans for each inbound operation
- Plan delivery routes and communicate plans to employees
- Supervise dockworkers and drivers unloading strip trailers and loading city delivery routes
- Review hot notes, commitments, appointment freight, and equipment requirements
- Maintain communication with linehaul regarding load or driver issues during the shift
- Implement the 90-day onboarding process for new drivers and dockworkers
- Monitor and maintain scheduling of dockworkers and city drivers
- Check shuttle paperwork for hazardous-material compliance
- Handle employee concerns, ideas, and suggestions for improvement
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, local, and company safety regulations and policies
- Process inbound paperwork, including printing manifests, completing hazmat closeouts, preparing driver paperwork, and manifesting
- Ensure paperwork follows company processes and policies
- Answer phones and handle customer service requests
- React productively to change and perform other essential assigned tasks
Requirements
What you’ll need- Fluent command of the English language required
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills
- Minimum high school education; college preferred
- One year trucking experience or similar background
- Previous supervisory experience is a plus
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office software
- Knowledge of hazardous materials and D.O.T. regulations
- Sound decision-making and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work in a physically demanding environment
- Ability to work outside in extreme weather conditions when required
- Ability to stand, walk, lift, and carry; may lift or exert up to 50 pounds occasionally
- Close visual acuity for preparing and analyzing data, viewing computer terminals, and extensive reading
- Manual dexterity for fingering, grasping, typing, and repetitive wrist, hand, and finger motion
- Talking and hearing required to communicate and exchange information
- Ability to work around loud noises, inclement weather, and vehicle exhaust fumes
