About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Set team strategy and technical roadmap with the Tech Lead
  • Balance platform migration with ongoing improvements to Link
  • Drive team execution through planning, sprints, and delivery
  • Participate hands-on in design and code review
  • Hire, manage, and develop a team of engineers
  • Set goals, provide coaching and feedback, and manage performance
  • Partner with Product, Design, and engineering teams across Plaid
  • Define clear interfaces and make the unified platform easy to adopt and extend
  • Maintain Link reliability and health during the transition
  • Balance new work with long-term system health
  • Lead approximately ten engineers through consolidation of onboarding products and migration of high-traffic Link experiences
  • Build a single onboarding platform for Plaid products, enabling customers to integrate once through a single API and activate additional products via dashboard toggles

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 8+ years of experience as a backend or full-stack engineer
  • Track record of designing and shipping complex, scalable systems
  • 2+ years managing engineers, including coaching, performance management, and building a team
  • Strong technical depth in architecture and design
  • Strong user empathy and ability to balance technical tradeoffs with product outcomes
  • Experience building consumer-facing products and/or product-led growth (PLG) developer tools (nice to have)
  • Ability to work from the Plaid office associated with the role at least 3 days per week, with or without reasonable accommodation
