About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Define the vision, roadmap, and success metrics for shared data and AI platforms across Plaid
- Partner with data, ML, and platform engineers to design and ship foundational AI infrastructure, developer tooling, data platforms, pipelines, quality, and governance capabilities
- Build internal platforms that improve common workflows, developer adoption, velocity, reliability, and quality
- Balance immediate product-team needs with longer-term platform investments
- Determine where Plaid should standardize, build shared primitives, enable experimentation, or leverage external solutions
- Partner with product, engineering, data, research, and security teams to identify shared needs and embed foundational AI and data capabilities
- Translate complex technical decisions and platform trade-offs into clear narratives for technical and non-technical stakeholders
Requirements
What you’ll need- 8+ years of product management experience
- Direct experience building AI/ML platform systems, applied intelligence products, or data infrastructure from concept to production
- Deep technical fluency in modern data and AI/ML systems, including data storage and processing, and model development, evaluation, deployment, and monitoring
- Experience operating in ambiguous, early-stage environments
- Ability to operate in a fast-paced startup environment
- Experience building scalable developer or data platforms through primitives, APIs, and frameworks
- Strategic and executional range, including long-term vision and near-term experiments, specifications, prototypes, and launches
- Strong communication and cross-functional leadership skills
- Commitment to responsible AI and transparency, especially in regulated or high-trust domains
- Hands-on experience with LLMs, embeddings, or agentic systems in production (nice to have)
- Experience building AI developer tooling in production (nice to have)
- Familiarity with applied AI in regulated or high-trust domains such as fintech, identity, or risk (nice to have)
