About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Build and maintain features across Planday’s monetization stack, including checkout, subscription management, payments, billing services and integrations
Develop C# / .NET services and React + TypeScript front ends, with one service in Java
Contribute to solution design discussions and participate in code reviews
Use AI coding assistants, reviewing, testing and questioning their output
Write and automate tests alongside code changes
Triage and fix development and production issues across subscription, checkout and payment flows
Trace problems across services and third-party platforms and communicate business impact
Learn and apply Planday’s Engineering Standards and participate in Backend and Frontend Guilds
Build knowledge of plans, entitlements, invoices and payments
Deliver changes through CI/CD pipelines and monitor their production behavior
Collaborate with full stack engineers, QA, UX research and Product
Progress from well-scoped customer-facing work to end-to-end feature ownership

Requirements

What you’ll need

Roughly 1 to 2 years of professional experience, or equivalent evidence of building and shipping real software (internships, open-source, freelance)
Working knowledge of one backend language, ideally C# / .NET
Working knowledge of JavaScript or TypeScript and a component framework such as React
Comfortable with SQL and relational data
Comfortable with Git, pull requests and code review
Familiar with consuming and building REST APIs
Some exposure to automated testing
Hands-on use of AI coding tools such as Claude, Codex, Copilot or Cursor, with an opinion about where they help and where they do not
Nice to have: exposure to CI/CD, Azure or other cloud platforms, Redis, message-based integration between systems, or billing and subscription domains
Ability to explain and defend code, including AI-generated code
Ability to work collaboratively with QA, UX and Product
Clear communication regarding progress, blockers and needs
Willingness to complete relevant background checks if successful
Work authorization or visa sponsorship status for the country where the role is advertised
