  • Own the test plan for camera software and define release criteria
  • Test cameras on real hardware for measurement accuracy, battery and power behaviour, connectivity, and interruption recovery
  • Set up test equipment so routine checks run automatically
  • Test the PLANIX Mobile App with real cameras across connecting, scanning, saving, transferring, and exporting workflows
  • Identify issues at the camera, app, and phone interface
  • Build automated tests into the release process to prevent regressions
  • Investigate crashes and customer-reported issues, reproduce them on real hardware, and create regression tests
  • Review test coverage with the team and identify problems earlier in development
  • Collaborate with firmware, mobile, cloud, Product Management, and UX teams to improve quality across the hardware-software boundary

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 5+ years in Test engineering, including meaningful time spent on products that combine hardware and software
  • Hands-on experience testing physical devices, including using lab equipment to work out why something failed
  • Strong programming fundamentals in at least one language: JavaScript/TypeScript, C++, Python, or another
  • Experience building automated tests and making them a standing part of a team’s release process
  • Experience testing mobile apps on real iOS and Android devices
  • Able to read the code under test well enough to work through root cause alongside developers
  • A structured, methodical approach to finding the ways a product can break
  • Bonus: experience with cameras, sensors, lidar, or other measurement hardware
  • Proficient with AI coding assistants (Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot) for writing documents, tests, debugging, and code review
  • Experience orchestrating AI agents to automate multi-step engineering workflows, with sound judgment on when to verify or override output
  • Comfortable integrating AI tooling (prompts, skills, MCP servers) with internal build, CI, and device-debug systems
  • Experience partnering with developers to find root cause
  • Ability to effectively convey complex technical concepts spanning embedded and mobile domains to technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Experience collaborating with Product and UX to define testable requirements early, from ideation to launch and subsequent development
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic startup environment
  • Experience with embedded Linux, React Native, C++, TypeScript/JavaScript, Kotlin, Swift, Python, AWS, TestFlight, App Store, Google Play, Sentry, Firebase, or Heap as applicable to the technology stack
