About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Deliver and coordinate quality patient care using professional nursing education and skills in history taking, patient education and follow-up
  • Provide after-hours coverage and remain available to answer patient calls on pre-arranged days
  • Document each patient contact accurately and timely during the on-call coverage period
  • Counsel and educate patients regarding post-procedure care, follow-up visits, contraceptive methods and reproductive care
  • Provide information regarding sexuality, contraception, sexually transmitted diseases, sterilization, medical concerns, abortion and pregnancy options
  • Adhere to Planned Parenthood's standing orders, policies and procedures
  • Utilize appropriate supervisory resources when needed
  • Uphold patient confidentiality and ensure superior customer service
  • Maintain current knowledge of PPFL Medical Standards and Guidelines and applicable policies and procedures
  • Demonstrate commitment to Planned Parenthood's mission and workplace values
  • Answer patient calls during coverage from 5:00 PM to 8:00 AM

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Must reside in the state of Florida
  • Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of Florida and Compact licensure
  • Level 2 background screening through Florida's Care Provider Background Screening Clearinghouse required as a condition of employment
  • Strong understanding of and personal commitment to reproductive rights and the goals and responsibilities of Planned Parenthood
  • Excellent organizational, communication and sound decision-making skills
  • Commitment to efficiency and quality
  • Comfortable discussing sexuality, contraception, sexually transmitted diseases and pregnancy options
  • Ability to recognize and function appropriately in sensitive situations
  • Ability to relate to and care for diverse populations and communities
  • Conscientious, cooperative, and detail oriented
  • Stable, dependable and accountable
  • Friendly and professional demeanor
  • Previous experience working with Microsoft Office suite preferred
  • Must complete required training and maintain the knowledge necessary to successfully perform the Registered Nurse role

  • Full-week on-call compensation: $500 per week
  • Monday through Friday on-call compensation: $60 per day
  • Saturday and Sunday on-call compensation: $100 per day
