About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide financial staffing and related consulting support to public sector clients, including cities, villages, libraries, and K-12 school districts
- Assist public clients with accounting and finance functions, including bank reconciliations, budget development, year-end close, annual audit preparation, and related support
- Verify, allocate, and post client transactions to subsidiary accounts in journals or computer files
- Compile and analyze financial information to prepare general ledger entries and document client transactions
- Work independently or in teams to improve client accounting operations, including drafting policies and procedures
- Analyze assets, liabilities, and equity and prepare balance sheets, statements of revenues and expenditures, and other financial reports
- Collaborate with consultants and clients on continuous improvement recommendations
- Participate in training and development opportunities
Requirements
What you’ll need- Pursuing a Bachelor's degree with an emphasis in accounting; or Master's degree in accounting or tax
- Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0
- Detail-oriented leader with problem solving, communication, organizational, technical and analytical skills
- Preferred: On track to complete the requisite degree and supporting credits to sit for the CPA or CIA exam, with the goal of successfully obtaining the CIA or CPA license
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship, except qualified candidates bilingual in Japanese and English or Chinese and English
- May require work hours exceeding the standard 40-hour work week
- May require some local, national, and occasional international travel
