Key responsibilities & impact

Design, build, and maintain backend services and API integrations in Go connecting the platform to external billing systems
Lead the design and delivery of usage-based billing features, including usage aggregation, estimates, usage alerts, and invoicing
Own complex components end to end from technical design through production
Shape component architecture, weigh trade-offs, and balance short-term delivery with long-term reliability
Troubleshoot complex issues across distributed services and external APIs, fixing root causes
Identify and deliver improvements in reliability, security, observability, and processes
Contribute to anti-abuse measures and apply security best practices to sensitive customer and payment data
Support engineers through code reviews, pairing, and mentoring
Partner with Finance, Product, Support, and engineering teams across multiple time zones
Communicate asynchronously across a distributed, global team

What you’ll need

Deep professional backend development in Go, building services in distributed systems
Experience designing backend systems and making architecture decisions that held up in production
Strong experience with relational databases such as PostgreSQL or MySQL/MariaDB, including data modeling, migrations, and performance
Track record integrating third-party APIs with rate limits, uptime constraints, idempotency, retries, and consistency considerations
Experience in domains where correctness matters, such as billing or payments
Commitment to testing failure paths
Solid understanding of common vulnerabilities and security considerations in payment and billing systems
Experience mentoring engineers or guiding technical work while staying hands-on
Interest in working on billing and financial systems
Clear written communication and ability to build agreement across a distributed team
Legally authorized to work in Canada, France, Germany, Spain, the United Kingdom, or the United States
Must complete a background check
