About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Design and evolve highly available, performant, and resilient systems as traffic and complexity grow
- Identify bottlenecks, improve critical paths, and design for graceful failure
- Improve cloud architecture, infrastructure-as-code, and engineering environments
- Improve observability, debugging, deployments, and incident response

Requirements
What you’ll need- Senior-level engineering experience combining deep systems thinking with product judgment
- Backend and systems engineering experience, including distributed systems, cloud infrastructure, and operating production systems at scale
- Strong experience with relational databases, data modelling, query optimization, and designing for data integrity and performance
- Ability to reason through complex technical trade-offs, anticipate failure modes, and choose maintainable solutions
- Ability to work across infrastructure, backend, and application layers
- Product-minded approach balancing speed, simplicity, and robustness
- Willingness to own outcomes end to end, from problem definition through operation and improvement
- Interest in building abstractions, tooling, and automation
- Security-minded approach to security, access control, and auditability
- Experience with payments, billing, or financial infrastructure is a strong plus
- Open-source contributions and side projects are valued
- Experience with the listed technology stack: TypeScript, React, Effect, Python, FastAPI, Dramatiq, Postgres, ClickHouse, and AWS
