About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Develop and operate core services of Polarise's Sovereign AI Cloud using Python and FastAPI
- Build and maintain an OpenAI-compatible LLM inference gateway and conversational AI platform
- Contribute to shared platform libraries for authentication, authorization, and multi-tenancy
- Build solutions using PostgreSQL, Redis, and asynchronous Python
- Ensure service quality, stability, and observability through automated testing, monitoring, and logging
- Support the full software lifecycle from architecture and implementation through deployment and production operations
- Collaborate with product, platform, and engineering teams
- Contribute ideas to the further development of the AI platform
- Use CI/CD, GitOps, and Kubernetes-based deployments
- Participate in an on-call rotation and occasionally travel for team workshops
Requirements
What you’ll need- Several years of experience in backend development
- Proficiency in at least one modern programming language
- Ideally, hands-on experience with Python, FastAPI, Pydantic, and SQLAlchemy
- Solid experience designing and developing REST APIs
- Experience working with OpenAPI specifications
- Experience with relational databases, preferably PostgreSQL
- Experience with Redis or comparable in-memory databases
- Familiarity with OAuth2, OIDC, JWT, and RBAC
- Experience with Keycloak is a plus
- Comfortable with pytest, mypy, and ruff
- Practical experience with Git, Docker, and CI/CD pipelines
- Ideally, experience operating applications on Kubernetes
- Familiarity with GitOps approaches and tools such as Helm or ArgoCD
- Initial experience with AI applications, LLM integrations, or modern AI toolchains is an advantage
- Experience with React, TypeScript, and observability stacks such as OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, or Sentry
- Confident communication in English
- German communication ideally
- Willingness to participate in an on-call rotation
- Willingness to occasionally travel for team workshops
