About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Own the close, forecast, controls and numbers behind the next raise across entities in Canada and China
  • Work directly with the CEO and leadership team
  • Participate in investor discussions
  • Build and operate the finance function
  • Deliver a reliable monthly consolidated close across Canada and China by business day 10
  • Develop an integrated forecast tying sales, inventory and cash together
  • Manage product costing, including landed cost, COGS and inventory planning for overseas-built hardware
  • Own the raise model, data room and investor reporting
  • Prepare and audit annual financials on time
  • Manage relationships with auditors and tax advisors
  • Establish controls for approvals, spending and intercompany transactions across two countries
  • Participate in the leadership table

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • CPA who started in audit, then grew with a product or technology company, with promotions along the way
  • Owned the close and built the model yourself, not just reviewed them
  • Experience with inventory, COGS and supply chain costing
  • Multi-entity or international consolidation is a strong plus
  • Worked with investors, a board or lenders, or are ready to step into that
  • Explain the numbers plainly to people outside finance
  • Decide with incomplete information
  • Comfortable reconciling an account personally as well as setting strategy
