About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Independently lead complex design projects through user research, concepts, storyboards, workflows, wireframes, prototypes, presentations and iteration.
  • Design complex interfaces and experiences for native iOS, Android and responsive web.
  • Define feature look, feel and functionality; create final designs and detailed interaction specifications for engineering handoff.
  • Plan and run user research and usability tests; turn findings into actionable recommendations.
  • Build understanding of buyer and seller needs, pain points and behavior, and advocate for users.
  • Contribute to and uphold the design system and design standards.
  • Work with engineering on technical implications and design within constraints.
  • Partner with product leadership, product managers and engineering on product strategy and project goals.
  • Use metrics and qualitative feedback to shape and justify design decisions supporting business KPIs.
  • Collaborate with researchers, data analysts, marketing, go-to-market and copy teams.
  • Provide feedback on product specifications and make trade-off decisions balancing aesthetics, performance, accessibility and customer journey.
  • Present design decisions to stakeholders and senior leadership.
  • Facilitate design thinking workshops and brainstorms.
  • Lead and delegate across projects involving multiple designers.
  • Mentor junior designers, review designs, improve workflow best practices and participate in recruiting.
  • Ship medium-to-large projects, define long-term design goals, deliver measurable KPI impact and improve design system standards.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 4–6 years of product design experience, including end-to-end UX work from research through prototyping, iteration and post-launch feedback.
  • Portfolio showing complex interfaces and experiences designed from scratch for native mobile and responsive web, with strong interaction and visual craft.
  • Hands-on experience planning and running user research and usability testing, and turning findings into design decisions.
  • Subject-matter expertise in at least one key area.
  • Solid knowledge of native iOS and Android components and patterns.
  • Fluency in Figma and prototyping tools.
  • Experience contributing to a design system.
  • Comfort with metrics and grounding design decisions in data and qualitative feedback.
  • Ability to break down medium-complexity projects into user stories and deliver medium-to-large projects with limited supervision.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills with stakeholders at all levels, including senior leadership.
  • Experience mentoring designers and giving constructive design feedback.
