About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Perform medical assistant procedures after competency completion, within the organization’s MA scope of work and under provider supervision
- Prepare patients for rooming and exams
- Prepare and administer medications and immunizations
- Remove sutures/staples and perform dressing changes
- Collect and prepare laboratory specimens
- Provide basic patient education
- Set up aseptic and sterile procedures
- Perform office-based procedures and basic foot care
- Assist with additional provider-determined procedures
- Participate in orientation of new-hire medical assistants
- Perform regulatory audits as needed
- Assist with visit closure
- Participate with the care team to meet patient-care and clinic needs
- Perform scribe duties after completing PMG scribe training
Requirements
What you’ll need- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Six months of MA experience or successful completion of a Medical Assistant or Nursing Assistant program from an accredited school required
- Successful completion of Presbyterian MA Advanced Skills Training within 90 days of hire
- BLS (AHA, Red Cross or ASHI Healthcare Provider) required
- Maintains current certifications in required emergency response trainings (i.e. BLS)
- Completes all Organizational, Department of Nursing and Department-Specific competency training/requirements within specified timeframe
