About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Complete registration for scheduled and unscheduled visits
- Update patient demographics
- Verify insurance eligibility and benefits
- Collect point-of-service payments
- Ensure clean and accurate accounts in the ADT system
- Confirm information meets billing and compliance requirements
- Address and appropriately resolve complaints using de-escalation processes
- Implement PROMISE and CARES behaviors in every encounter
- Educate patients about insurance benefits and liabilities
- Financially clear accounts at time of service through account review
- Obtain and enter demographic and financial information
- Obtain missing insurance details, including policy number, group number, date of birth, and insurance phone number
- Contact payers directly when needed
Requirements
What you’ll need- High school diploma or GED required
- Six months of healthcare experience or one year of customer service
- Must pass the two-week Patient Access Academy with an 85% or higher
- CHAA/CHAM or similar certification preferred
- Basic understanding of insurance, medical terminology, billing codes, and registration processes preferred
- Basic knowledge of Medicare and other regulatory guidelines
- Ability to manage conflict and request supervisor assistance when needed
