About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Complete registration for scheduled and unscheduled emergency department visits
  • Update patient demographics and collect financial information
  • Obtain missing insurance information, including policy number, group number, date of birth, and insurance phone number
  • Verify insurance eligibility and benefits through electronic systems or direct payer contact
  • Collect point-of-service payments and ensure accounts are financially cleared
  • Maintain clean and accurate accounts in the ADT system
  • Confirm information meets billing and compliance requirements
  • Address and attempt to resolve complaints using de-escalation processes
  • Educate patients about insurance benefits and liabilities
  • Implement PROMISE and CARES behaviors in every encounter

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Six months of healthcare experience or one year of customer service
  • Must pass the two-week Patient Access Academy with an 85% or higher
  • Basic understanding of insurance, medical terminology, billing codes, and registration processes preferred
  • CHAA/CHAM or similar certification preferred
  • Ability to manage conflict and appropriately request supervisor assistance
  • Basic knowledge of Medicare and other regulatory guidelines
