About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Own the end-to-end interaction with banks, from submitting an application file through processing the response
- Maintain and design new features within the functional scope
- Ensure code quality, architecture, and the reliability of critical workflows
- Serve as the technical point of contact for banking relationships with the Banking Division and banking technology teams
- Design and industrialize bank API connectors on a bank-by-bank basis
- Improve the reliability of processing, matching, and historical tracking of banks’ responses and emails
- Extract information using LLMs
- Understand lenders’ approval processes and partners’ expectations, and translate them into product features
- Instrument workflows and monitor submission times, failure rates, and application-file quality
- Share business-domain knowledge with product and operations teams
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team comprising back-end/front-end developers, a product manager, a designer, and a data scientist
Requirements
What you’ll need- At least 5 years of experience as a software engineer
- Experience integrating with third-party systems
- Experience working with evolving API contracts, retryable errors, and states requiring reconciliation
- Understanding of the residential mortgage business, lending criteria, and banks’ expectations
- Ability to communicate with business teams and external partners
- Product-minded approach, with a natural ability to collaborate with product managers and designers
- Creative and proactive, with the ability to put forward ideas
- Independent, rigorous, and curious
