About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Coordinate, direct and schedule custodial staff and subcontract personnel
  • Maintain professional relationships with site customers, suppliers, vendors and employees
  • Supervise employees and ensure a competent, motivated team through hiring, training, development, counseling and performance reviews
  • Conduct facility walks, quality-control inspections and safety audits
  • Provide feedback to personnel and customers as appropriate
  • Schedule and prioritize tasks
  • Ensure adherence to procedures, regulations and guidelines while minimizing errors and safety risks
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned
  • Provide daily oversight of custodial services and custodial personnel
  • Help ensure facilities are clean and free of safety hazards

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Three or more years of experience in custodial services and/or building maintenance, including one year of supervisory experience
  • Experience working with adults with developmental disabilities and/or physical challenges, preferred
  • Knowledge of Cal OSHA, OSHA occupational safety and environmental regulations
  • Supervisory skills to hire qualified employees, support professional development, administer performance management and disciplinary processes, and address employee relations
  • Ability to supervise and develop an assigned team to meet production/service goals while adhering to safety policies and rules
  • Effective oral and written communication skills using appropriate business English
  • Demonstrated leadership, organizational, common sense and problem-solving skills
  • Human relation skills to build effective relationships with team and customers
  • Effective customer service skills
  • Intermediate computer literacy, including word processing, spreadsheet, database and presentation software
  • Knowledge of business English, including vocabulary and spelling
  • Fundamental mathematical ability including addition, subtraction, multiplication and division
  • Ability to establish priorities and solve operational problems
  • Flexibility to respond to changing work priorities and handle numerous projects simultaneously
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Valid Driver's License may be required depending on local, state and/or contract requirements
  • Ability to perform required physical demands, including standing, walking, bending, kneeling, squatting, stooping, and maneuvering around the worksite
  • Ability to assist with lifting boxes or equipment up to 35 pounds
  • Ability to assist with pushing or pulling objects up to 70 pounds
  • Ability to climb ladders and/or step stools when required
