About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Schedule required or requested floor tasks with supervisor or lead
- Inspect and prepare necessary equipment and chemicals for scheduled procedures
- Clean and restore tile, carpet, and other flooring surfaces
- Perform stripping, waxing, scrubbing, buffing, carpet cleaning, and other restorative tasks
- Complete floor tasks and conduct a quality review of the project
- Properly secure all equipment after completing tasks
- Request necessary repairs and install local out tags when required
- Perform other duties and special projects as assigned
- Work at an office or customer location, such as a commissary, federal courthouse, or military base
Requirements
What you’ll need- One year of custodial work experience
- Ability to communicate effectively and respond to questions and requests from customers and others
- Ability to read and follow written instructions on labels for proper and safe use of chemicals, supplies and equipment
- Ability to learn to use specialized departmental equipment including scrubbers and buffers
- Effective written communication skills using appropriate business English
- Computer literacy to use business software and the Internet, and enter/retrieve data
- Human relations skills to build effective working relationships
- Demonstrated customer service, problem solving and common sense skills
- Valid Driver's License may be required depending on local, state and/or contract requirements
- Ability to maneuver in and around the worksite; stand and walk; bend, kneel, reach, and stoop
- Ability to lift boxes or equipment weighing up to 35 pounds, and up to 50 pounds occasionally
- Ability to push or pull objects such as vacuums, carts, and mops; may be required to push/pull equipment weighing up to 70 pounds
- Ability to grasp small and large objects
- Ability to climb ladders and/or step stools
