About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Oversee and manage Food Services at various sites under the terms of a federal contract
Coordinate, direct and manage Food Service supervisors and staff performing sanitation and food-handling duties
Ensure facilities remain sanitized and free of safety and health hazards
Ensure services are cost-efficient, contract-compliant and properly documented
Maintain professional relationships with commercial and federal customers and resolve service problems
Supervise employees through hiring, training, development, counseling and performance reviews
Oversee department and contract budgets, supply purchasing and equipment purchasing
Organize, assign and coordinate work among staff, client workers and contract vendors
Schedule and prioritize tasks while ensuring adherence to procedures, regulations and guidelines
Oversee rehabilitation counseling, training and assistance for client workers with developmental disabilities and/or physical challenges
Create and document behavioral and vocational objectives and maintain counseling reports and files
Conduct and participate in staff, leadership, committee and offsite meetings
Prepare reports, business correspondence, agendas, presentation materials and certificates
Serve as an information source regarding contracts, department services and operations
Fill in for Food Service supervisors and leads when absent
Perform other duties and special projects as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need

Five or more years of experience in food service, including at least three years in a supervisory position
Experience working with adults with developmental disabilities and/or physical challenges, preferred
Knowledge of Cal OSHA and OSHA occupational safety regulations and Food code requirements
Supervisory skills to hire qualified employees, provide professional development, administer performance management and disciplinary processes, and address employee relations
Ability to supervise and develop assigned team to meet production/service goals while adhering to safety policies and rules
Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing; make presentations and respond to inquiries by senior management, customers and/or employees
Demonstrated leadership, organizational, reasoning, problem solving and analytical skills
Exceptional customer service skills
Human relation skills to build effective relationships with team, customers and public
Advanced computer literacy, including word processing, spreadsheet, database and presentation software
Knowledge of business English, including vocabulary, spelling, grammar and punctuation
Mathematical skills involving fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions
Ability to establish priorities and solve business, operational and strategic management problems
Flexibility to respond to changing work priorities and handle numerous projects simultaneously
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or related field, or comparable combination of formal education and work experience
Ability to perform required physical demands, including viewing monitors, using a keyboard and answering/making phone calls
