About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Perform skilled technical work maintaining, repairing, replacing, and installing HVAC/R equipment, including furnaces, chillers, heat pumps, package units, split systems, controls, and distribution systems
- Install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain mechanical and HVAC equipment
- Cut and bend tubing to correct length and shape
- Apply plumbing, mechanical, electrical, HVAC, and refrigeration skills
- Observe pressure and vacuum gauges and adjust controls for proper operation
- Test joints and connections for gas leaks
- Wrap pipes in insulation batting and secure them
- Replace defective controls, fuses, and electrical wiring
- Tend to or fire boilers to produce steam or high-temperature water
- Interpret boiler readings, gauges, meters, and charts
- Adjust controls for safe and efficient boiler operation
- Maintain and record boiler maintenance and operation logs
- Clean, oil, make minor repairs, or assist with boiler-room equipment repairs
- Treat and analyze boiler water using prescribed methods
- Respond to emergency calls after normal work hours
- Travel frequently between facilities
- Follow PRIDE safety policies and procedures
- Perform other duties and special projects as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- Knowledge of and understanding of Energy Management Controls Systems
- Three to five years of field experience servicing HVAC equipment
- Able to use industry hand and machine tools (i.e. vacuum pumps)
- Ability to read, interpret and work from blueprints, schematics and written instructions
- Proficient in electrical trouble shooting
- EPA Certification may be required depending on local, state and/or contract requirements
- R410A Safety may be required depending on local, state and/or contract requirements
- Valid Driver's License may be required depending on local, state and/or contract requirements
- Ability to maneuver to, in, and around equipment
- Ability to bend, kneel, stoop and reach
- Ability to climb stepstools or ladders
- Ability to lift and move heavy equipment up to 35 pounds
- Ability to climb ladders to gain access to rooftop equipment
- Ability to monitor computer systems and control displays
