About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Prioritize and assign tasks, including coordinating work schedules and rebalancing for special projects and customer satisfaction
  • Maintain supplies, stock, and equipment in proper and safe condition
  • Train and assist workers, including safe and proper use of products and equipment
  • Perform minor and major repairs on water mainlines and lateral lines; repair or replace valves and perform excavation
  • Repair and adjust sprinkler heads
  • Troubleshoot low-voltage lines, 24-valve solenoids, trace wires, and underground toning
  • Troubleshoot irrigation controllers, transformers, common and station wires, and circuit boards
  • Program and troubleshoot booster pumps, including flow and PSI limits
  • Program irrigation timers at the main computer and on site
  • Conduct sprinkler and site checks; identify breaks, damage, and plant-material vitality issues
  • Install irrigation systems, controllers, concrete pads, high-voltage electrical connections, master valves, and flow sensors
  • Program central control systems and report on water usage and alarms
  • Troubleshoot and repair repeaters and transmitters
  • Maintain weather stations
  • Perform grounds maintenance duties such as weeding, trimming, mowing, and edging
  • Monitor task progress and inspect completed work for quality
  • Travel frequently between facilities
  • Perform other assigned duties and special projects

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Four or more years of experience in related occupation involving sprinkler irrigation installation, repair and maintenance
  • Ability to use relevant hand tools and equipment
  • Knowledge of basic hydraulics, tools and parts, including a variety of piping materials such as PVC/plastic, metal, copper and ABS
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing; and to present information and respond to questions from vendors, customers, management, and others
  • Ability to build effective working relationships with staff, customers, and others
  • Knowledge of safe operation of construction and landscaping industrial equipment
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Valid Driver's License may be required depending on local, state and/or contract requirements
  • Ability to perform the listed physical demands, including lifting equipment up to 50 pounds and pushing or pulling equipment weighing up to 75 pounds
  • Ability to work in construction environments, including possible confined spaces and exposure to hazardous equipment, toxic substances, noise, and varying weather conditions
  • Frequent travel between facilities may be required
