About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Perform semi-skilled and skilled maintenance, repair, and construction of commercial irrigation systems
- Install, operate, maintain, and inspect computerized irrigation systems
- Operate vehicles, tools, and power equipment used in irrigation installation and maintenance
- Monitor inventory, order supplies, and maintain purchase records within authorized budget
- Perform site assessments to ensure proper soil moisture for local plant material
- Dig in established landscapes and various soil conditions
- Inspect irrigation systems for proper operation
- Install irrigation components, clocks, and other irrigation devices
- Repair and maintain valves, trace electrical components, locate existing zones and valves, and perform pump repairs
- Prepare necessary documents and reports
- Communicate orally and in writing
- Maintain effective working relationships
- Maintain a safe work environment and follow organizational and regulatory safety rules
- Perform other duties and special projects as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- Two years of relevant work experience
- Irrigation Technician Certification (CIT) highly preferred
- Knowledge of commercial landscape computerized irrigation systems
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Knowledge of methods, techniques, tools, and materials used in the installation, troubleshooting, maintenance and repair of landscaped irrigation systems
- Knowledge of uses and purposes of general construction tools and equipment used in the installation and maintenance of landscaped irrigation systems
- Ability to work independently
- Mathematical skills including fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions
- Ability to establish priorities and solve business, operational, and strategic management problems
- Flexibility to respond to changing work priorities and handle multiple projects simultaneously
- High School Diploma or GED
- Valid Driver's License may be required depending on local, state, and/or contract requirements
- Ability to perform medium to heavy physical work, climb and descend ladders, operate tools and equipment, and operate a motor vehicle
- Ability to distinguish colors in wiring
- Ability to reach overhead and work in stooping, standing, bending, sitting, kneeling, and squatting positions for extended periods
- Ability to lift, pull, and push materials and equipment
- Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds frequently throughout the workday
- Ability to work outdoors in extreme weather conditions and around chemicals, pesticides, and other substances
- Ability to travel to other sites
