About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Manage nuisance, disease, vector, health, structural, lawn, turf, ornamental plant, vegetation, invertebrate, and vertebrate pests
  • Provide day-to-day guidance for appropriate pest corrections and treatments
  • Serve as an informational and technical resource to field personnel and customers
  • Determine infestation types through observation and/or testing
  • Determine appropriate treatment methods, processes, and materials
  • Coordinate application schedules with pest control leads, managers, site managers, and grounds crews
  • Ensure pesticides are labeled, safely stored, and legally disposed of
  • Train and supervise agents when required
  • Maintain pesticide application databases in accordance with state and federal regulations when required
  • Operate sprayers, agitators, pumps, hoses, nozzles, tubes, and portable spray equipment
  • Set, move, and release mechanical traps when required
  • Clean pest-harboring areas before treatment
  • Clean or service machinery using water, gasoline, lubricants, or hand tools
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned
  • Drive to and from worksite locations to perform surveillance, treatments, and quality control

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • AbilityOne contract position requiring the job to be filled by a person with a disability
  • Knowledge of relevant local, state and federal regulations regarding agricultural pest control, spill response, and personal protection equipment including respiratory protection
  • Knowledge of OSHA safety requirements
  • Ability to accurately record all pesticide applications
  • Computer literacy, including word processing, spreadsheet, and web-based applications may be required
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to present information and respond to questions from vendors, customers, clients, and others
  • Ability to interface with customers to maintain a positive working relationship
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Commercial Applicator Cert may be required depending on local, state and/or contract requirements
  • Valid Driver's License may be required depending on local, state and/or contract requirements
  • Ability to maneuver around equipment; stand and walk; bend, stoop, kneel, and reach; lift boxes or equipment up to 50 pounds; and climb ladders or step stools
  • Ability to work in field environments with possible exposure to toxic substances, noise, wind, rain, cold, and heat
