About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Prioritize and assign tasks, including coordinating work schedules to ensure coverage and rebalancing as necessary for special projects and customer satisfaction
  • Maintain supplies and equipment in proper operating and safe condition
  • Train workers in the safe and proper use of products and equipment to meet quality and safety standards
  • Train and assist workers in performing duties
  • Monitor task progress and inspect completed work for quality
  • Investigate discrepancies, report them to management, and recommend improvements
  • Monitor inventory, supply, and equipment usage
  • Initiate supply or repair orders when inventory is low or replacements/repairs are needed
  • Prepare records and reports as needed
  • Maintain good relationships with workers and customers
  • Stock, rotate, rearrange, and return merchandise in a commissary retail environment
  • Remove excess, outdated, and damaged products, debris, and cardboard
  • Straighten merchandise displays and maintain freshness and sale dates
  • Clean and dust shelves and products; perform wet and dry cleanup
  • May operate a manual pallet jack, flat-bed, or U-Boat cart
  • Perform other assigned duties and special projects

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Must meet all requirements of the worker position being led
  • At least one year of stocker, merchandising, or related experience
  • Experience working with adults with developmental disabilities and/or physical challenges preferred
  • Knowledge of company safety policies and procedures
  • Knowledge of departmental operations, procedures, and organizational policies
  • Ability to manage material resources and time and to work independently and as a team
  • Knowledge of specialized departmental equipment
  • Ability to train employees in proper departmental practices and procedures, including safety and proper use of PPE, tools, and equipment
  • Ability to communicate effectively; to present information and to respond to questions from managers, workers, clients, customers and others; and to escalate matters appropriately
  • Human relations and interpersonal skills to build effective working relationships
  • Mathematical ability including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing work priorities
  • Demonstrated organizational, problem solving, and common sense skills
  • Ability to interpret stock labels, shelf labels, date codes, and rotate stock appropriately
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Valid Driver's License may be required depending on local, state and/or contract requirements
  • Ability to maneuver in and around the commissary
  • Ability to bend, crouch, kneel, squat, stoop, reach, lift/carry up to 25 pounds, pull/push up to 75 pounds, grasp objects, climb/stand on ladders, step stools, and/or rolling stairs, and coordinate product placement and rotation
