About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Support the Controller in building and maintaining a scalable, accurate, and well-controlled accounting function
- Establish and improve accounting processes, procedures, internal controls, reconciliations, and financial reporting practices
- Identify process gaps, develop practical solutions, document procedures, implement controls, and create accountability across the accounting team
- Prepare financial statements to summarize and forecast the company’s financial status
- Assist with management of accounting, auditing, and budgeting
- Assist with audit preparations
- Establish standardized account reconciliation requirements, supporting documentation standards, review procedures, and deadlines
- Use accounting software to maintain records and prepare reports
- Provide guidance and training to accounting staff and delegate tasks as appropriate
- Coordinate with and prepare reports for the Controller, CFO, and upper management
- Support and continuously improve the month-end close process
- Evaluate accounting processes for efficiency, accuracy, scalability, and controls; lead process redesign where needed
- Build repeatable, measurable, documented accounting processes
- Partner with operational teams to improve information flowing into Accounting
- Establish accounting KPIs and monitor performance
- Support implementation and optimization of accounting systems, workflows, and automation
- Provide guidance and oversight to accounting staff; may directly supervise 1–4 staff
Requirements
What you’ll need- BS or BA in accounting
- Three to six years of relevant accounting experience
- CPA or CMA preferred
- Accounting management experience
- Construction accounting experience
- Proficiency with accounting software; experience with Viewpoint Vista ERP preferred
- Strong Excel skills with the ability to efficiently analyze, reconcile, and organize financial data
