About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead multiple underwriting teams
- Drive pricing strategy, financial analysis, and competitive proposal development
- Oversee underwriting operations across client segments
- Provide strategic direction and day-to-day guidance to underwriting managers
- Develop, drive, and execute ASO pricing and margin strategies with Blue Plan Underwriting and Sales Executive leadership
- Oversee and coordinate underwriting team workflow
- Partner with the proposal unit to ensure financial responses to RFPs are complete and accurate
- Consult with Legal and Client Engagement on contractual deal terms, caveats, and related information
- Ensure standard operating procedures are followed and bids are tracked and documented
- Collaborate with management on staffing plans, productivity metrics, and efficiency initiatives
- Provide direct support and consultation to Blue Plan Leadership
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Accounting, Finance or related area of study, or equivalent combination of education and/or relevant work experience
- High school diploma from an accredited school or equivalent GED required
- 8 years of underwriting, healthcare finance, pricing, consulting, actuarial, or related experience
- 5 years of leadership/people management experience
- Must be eligible to work in the United States without the need for work visa or residency sponsorship
- Advanced underwriting and financial acumen, including business mathematics, algebra, discounts, percentages, and analytical modeling
- Executive-level communication and presentation skills
- Ability to translate complex concepts into clear, actionable recommendations
- Ability to influence, persuade, and gain alignment from senior and executive leaders
- Strong relationship management and customer-focused collaboration skills
- Skilled negotiation capabilities for complex, high-stakes discussions
