About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Analyze, mine, and document complex healthcare claims and authorizations datasets to identify patterns and trends
- Use scripting, data blending, data visualization, and statistical programming languages to translate business problems into strategies and solutions
- Partner with stakeholders to understand needs, collect and acquire data, and organize data for availability
- Interpret results and present data as a compelling story that answers stakeholder questions and drives decisions
- Identify and solve problems through data analytics and statistical modeling
- Perform ad hoc analyses of varying complexity and duration
- Provide status reports detailing project progress and time allocation by task
- Coordinate and mentor analytics efforts by in-house staff or external consultants
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree in Health Informatics, Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, or related area, or equivalent combination of education and/or relevant work experience
- High school diploma from an accredited school or equivalent GED required
- 2 years of work experience in healthcare analytics
- Must be eligible to work in the United States without the need for work visa or residency sponsorship
- Ability to manage multiple projects with tight deadlines
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
- Effective communication skills; able to translate and explain technical data and insights to non-technical audiences
- Knowledge of pharmacy benefit structures, drug pricing, and claims processing
- Familiarity with drug coding systems (NDC) and medical coding (ICD, CPT, HCPCS)
- Experience in a PBM, health plan, or payer organization preferred
- Experience with transact-SQL (MS SQL or Oracle) preferred
- Experience with SAS, GCP, Python, and/or other data mining tools preferred
- Experience working with large datasets, including data warehousing and business intelligence tools preferred
- First Databank or Medi-Span experience preferred
- Must comply with security responsibilities, applicable legal, regulatory, and contractual requirements, and internal policies and procedures
